Description

The Bibio is an Irish wet fly, originally tied by Major Charles Roberts of County Mayo in the late 1950s or early 1960s as a beetle imitation for sea trout fishing. The classic construction of a black and red seal's-fur body, black hackle, and fine silver ribbing has remained largely unchanged to this day.

The Bibio is classically fished loch-style as a bob fly, twitched across the surface, though in smaller sizes it has also established itself as a versatile trout fly on the dropper. It's one of the most popular stillwater wet flies worldwide, valued for its simple, robust effectiveness.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
