Henryville Special

The Henryville Special is a classic American caddisfly imitation, developed in the 1930s by fly tyer Hiram Brobst of Palmerton, Pennsylvania, for the Henryville stretch of Broadhead Creek in the Pocono Mountains. He drew inspiration from a European caddis pattern he'd seen in a fly-tying book. Brobst himself never named the fly - it was only later named after the Henryville House, a popular fishing hotel on Broadhead Creek.

The Henryville Special skitters beautifully across the surface, but with the bottom hackle trimmed it can also be fished riding lower in the film - a versatile caddisfly imitation for broken water, still tied commercially to this day.
