Description

The name Trude refers to the fly family that originated in 1903 at the edge of A. S. Trude's ranch in Idaho: as a prank, Carter H. Harrison tied a pattern with a down-wing of dog hair that, fished on the Snake River, turned out unexpectedly effective and became the template for numerous variants. The Yellow Tail Trude carries this name forward with its striking yellow tail.

The sparkling peacock-quill body and strong hackling provide good visibility in fast water or difficult light conditions. The Yellow Tail Trude is fished dead-drift as an attractor pattern and is especially successful with trout and grayling that respond to trigger flies.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
