Foam Ant

The Foam Ant is the high-floating, modern development of the classic fur ant - a closed-cell foam body replaces the fur and gives lasting buoyancy without losing the slim, waisted ant silhouette. This foam version has no single named inventor either.

Ants drift on the surface throughout the summer, at times in huge numbers during the nuptial flight, and are often taken selectively on medium and larger rivers. Unlike the fur version, the Foam Ant doesn't soak through and stays reliably up - useful when fish are taking the dead ant right on rather than in the film. It is tied barbless and fished on a free drift, especially along weed edges and under bankside brush.
