Grey Duster

The Grey Duster is a classic British all-round dry fly with no specific natural imitation, fished for around a hundred years now. It traces back to Welsh anglers on the River Dee and is considered by some to be one of the very first true emerger flies. It became well known chiefly through Alfred Courtney-Williams, who described it in his "Dictionary of Trout Flies" as one of his favourite patterns - especially for grayling fishing.

Tied with nothing more than hare's ear dubbing and a badger cock hackle, the Grey Duster floats superbly and works as a searching pattern for almost any situation on stream, river, and stillwater - without any particular hatch needing to be on.
