Description

The CDC & Elk was developed in the 1980s by Dutch fly tyer Hans Weilenmann as a further development of Al Troth's legendary Elk Hair Caddis - inspired by his time fishing in Montana. Weilenmann replaced the classic hackle with a CDC collar, giving the fly a softer, more natural look that sits lower in the surface film than the higher-floating original - ideal for fish that have already refused the classic Elk Hair Caddis. The fly is regarded today as a modern classic among dry flies.

The CDC & Elk is fished dead-drift or with a light strip to imitate emerging or egg-laying caddisflies - especially effective on demanding fish in calmer water.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
