No documented origin or inventor can be found for the Woodolive - the name likely refers to the wood-grain-like pattern of the wings. It belongs to the large group of modern sedge imitations and recreates the appearance of a caddisfly with its olive-green body and high-contrast hackle collar.

The Woodolive is fished dead-drift or with a light strip retrieve to imitate hatching or egg-laying caddisflies. It's a reliable choice for trout on calm to lightly flowing water, especially at dusk or on windless summer evenings.
