No documented origin or inventor can be found for the Gray Bead. It belongs to the broad family of modern, minimalist beadhead nymphs with no specific natural imitation.
The plain grey body with a metal head imitates small aquatic insects in general and sinks quickly to the bottom thanks to the bead's weight. It's fished dead-drift or under an indicator and is a versatile pattern for trout and grayling.
