Wickham Spider
LFT-NA39.14Description
Wickham's Fancy is attributed to Dr. T. C. Wickham of Winchester, said to have developed it in the 1880s for the chalk streams of southern England - a "fancy" fly with no specific natural imitation, whose exact credit was already disputed at the time. This soft-hackled spider version with its gold-glinting body is a wet-fly variant of the original.
The Wickham Spider is fished classically wet, across the current - its metallic sheen and lively hackling create strong triggers in changeable light or slightly colored water. A proven pattern for trout and grayling in rivers and streams.
Fair Trade, Full Circle
Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
