Sawyer's Orange Pheasant Tail

The Pheasant Tail Nymph was developed in 1958 by Frank Sawyer, a river keeper on the Hampshire Avon in England, and described in his book "Nymphs and the Trout". Instead of tying thread, Sawyer used only fine copper wire, giving it extra weight and a subtle brightness. This orange variant follows his classic build with an added splash of color.

The true-to-life pheasant tail body imitates mayfly larvae, while the orange accent adds extra visibility - especially effective in murky water or under heavy fishing pressure. It's fished dead-drift and close to the bottom, a reliable pattern for trout and grayling.
