Quill Gordon

This pattern traces back to fly tyer Theodore Gordon (1854-1915) and imitates a mayfly. Flies tied by Gordon himself can still be admired at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum in Livingston Manor, New York. Gordon maintained close ties with the British fly-fishing elite, including Halford, from whom he received numerous fly patterns in 1890, and Skues, who sent him fur and feather skins. This fly is therefore not just a historical addition to your box, but also an insider tip for wary trout and grayling.
