March Brown Wet Fly

The March Brown is among the oldest British fly patterns there is - its origins likely go back several centuries, and no single inventor can be named anymore. It imitates the mayfly Rhithrogena germanica, which traditionally hatches as early as late March through early April, giving the fly its name.

The March Brown Wet Fly is classically fished across the current to imitate emerging or drowned mayflies during the early season - a proven classic for the first warm days of spring on the water.
