The Psycho Ant is a modern, deliberately exaggerated ant pattern with a foam body, a high-contrast sighter wing and long rubber legs. No documented origin or single inventor is known for this commercial pattern.
Despite the eye-catching looks, the underlying silhouette stays an ant, so it works especially well during the summer nuptial flight, when trout key selectively on ants. The foam body keeps it reliably afloat even in slightly broken water, while the highly visible legs and wing add extra movement triggers. It also doubles conveniently as an indicator fly for a smaller nymph in a dropper rig. It is tied barbless.
