Description

The Iron Blue Dun is one of the oldest British dry flies, imitating one of the smallest mayfly species there is, mentioned as far back as the earliest writings on English fly fishing. Unlike many younger patterns, no single inventor or exact year of origin can be traced anymore - the fly has evolved and proven itself over generations on English chalk streams like the Test and Itchen.

The natural typically doesn't hatch in the morning or evening but throughout the day - so the Iron Blue Dun is classically fished dead-drift around midday, when small, dark mayflies are on the move on calmer river and stream stretches.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
