Description

The Grey Wulff is the original fly of the American Wulff series. Lee Wulff developed it in 1929-30 in the Adirondacks to imitate large mayflies like Isonychia duns and Ephemera spinners on the turbulent Ausable River - the delicate English chalk-stream patterns of the time were too fragile and floated too poorly for that water. Wulff is said to have caught 51 trout on a single Grey Wulff during one early outing.

With its rugged hair body and upright deer-hair wings, the Grey Wulff floats excellently even on the fastest, roughest water - classically fished as an imitation of large mayflies on freestone stretches, where conventional chalk-stream patterns would sink.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
