Description

The Green Drake imitates Ephemera guttulata, one of the largest North American mayfly species, whose late-spring hatch is one of the most spectacular events in American fly fishing. Theodore Gordon, often called the father of American dry-fly fishing, tied one of the first patterns for this fly in the early 1900s. The spinner stage of Ephemera guttulata is known as the "Coffin Fly" - named after a separate pattern that Walt Dette and Ted Townsend tied in black and white in 1930, inspired by the clothing worn at a funeral.

The Green Drake is fished dead-drift during the short but intense hatch of Ephemera guttulata - an event that regularly tempts large, otherwise wary trout into careless rises to the surface.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
