Who exactly created the nymph version can no longer be established with certainty - both James Ogden and Frederick M. Halford are frequently credited. This Golden Nugget variant with a gold bead is a later, modern addition.

With its shaggy body of hare's-ear dubbing, the Golden Nugget Hares Ears imitates a broad range of aquatic insects, while the gold bead provides quick sink rate. It's fished dead-drift or close to the bottom and ranks among the most versatile nymph patterns there is.
