Description

The Comparadun is a modern American hackle-free mayfly imitation, developed in 1972 by Al Caucci and Bob Nastasi and introduced in their 1973 book "Comparahatch". It traces back to Fran Betters' older Haystack fly from the 1930s, refined with a split microfibbett tail for better flotation. With its 180-degree fan of deer hair for a wing, it sits flush on the surface, giving it a far more realistic silhouette than traditional hackled patterns.

The Comparadun is fished dead-drift during a mayfly hatch and is especially suited to clear, calm water with selective, wary rising trout - its flush silhouette makes it one of the most convincing dun imitations there is.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
