Description

The Spent Split Wing Dun imitates an exhausted mayfly (spinner) that, after laying its eggs, lies flat on the water's surface with its wings splayed and split ("spent"). This characteristic posture marks the end of the life cycle for many mayfly species.

The fly is fished dead-drift during a spinner fall, when spent mayflies drift flat on the water - a moment trout and grayling are especially quick to exploit, since the insects lie motionless on the surface.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
