No documented origin or inventor can be found for the First Black Damse. It belongs to the broad family of British damselfly nymph patterns that have been used on stillwater for decades to imitate the larvae of the damselfly.
The slim black body with silver ribbing and the eye-catching glitter thorax create a natural silhouette. It's fished with slow, undulating strips to imitate a damselfly larva's swimming motion - especially effective on stillwater and in slow river sections for trout and char.
