The Crippled Midge imitates a midge that failed to fully break free of its pupal shuck while emerging, left hanging helplessly in the surface film - a state that wary trout and grayling are especially quick to exploit, since these insects can no longer escape.
The Crippled Midge is fished dead-drift on calm water when midges are hatching - a convincing choice especially for very selective fish on stillwater and calm river stretches.
