Description

The Pennell traces back to English author and angler Henry Cholmondeley-Pennell (1837-1913), who developed the pattern in several color variants in the late 19th century - alongside brown, yellow, and green, the black version was considered the most convincing. The Black Pennell has since become a fixture of the British wet-fly tradition.

The Black Pennell is classically fished loch-style as a bob fly, especially early in the season when black midges are hatching. Its black-silver body with bronze tail and fine hackling is a proven pattern for trout and char on stillwater and slow-flowing water under overcast skies.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
