Description

The Humpy is an American dry fly with a characteristic hump of deer or elk hair over the back, giving it exceptional buoyancy. Originally tied as the "Horner Deer Hair Fly" after its creator Jack Horner in the 1940s for the fast waters of Northern California, the pattern spread further via Pat and Sigrid Barnes' fly shop in the Yellowstone area to Wyoming and Montana, where the name "Humpy" took hold. This yellow variant is one of the most popular color options and stays especially visible.

Thanks to its bulky hair body, the Humpy floats superbly even on the fastest, most turbulent mountain water while staying highly visible - the classic attractor for fast freestone stretches and mountain streams, tempting trout regardless of any particular hatch.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
