Wickhams Fancy

Wickham's Fancy is a classic British "fancy" fly - a pattern that doesn't imitate any particular insect but works as a general trigger through color and silhouette. It's attributed to Dr. T. C. Wickham of Winchester in southern England, said to have developed it in the 1880s for the local chalk streams - though the exact credit was already disputed by other Wickhams at the time.

With its palmered golden hackle and gold-ribbed body, Wickham's Fancy is a versatile all-rounder, classically fished as a searching pattern - dry on broken water and wet across the current - regardless of any specific hatch.
