Montana Green

The Montana is an American stonefly larva imitation, developed by New York fly tyer Lew Oatman in the 1950s to imitate the large stonefly larvae found in Rocky Mountain waters. Although the fly doesn't originate in Montana itself, it was named after the state's rivers, where it proved especially effective. This green variant complements the classic black-and-green original coloring.

With its bulky, weighted body, the Montana Green is classically fished deep in the current to imitate large stonefly larvae along the streambed - a proven choice on fast-flowing streams and rivers with a rocky bottom.
