Description

The Klinkhamer Special is a Dutch emerger fly, developed in 1984 by Hans van Klinken on the River Glomma in Norway for the local grayling fishing there. After checking the stomach contents of a few fish, he found the grayling were feeding almost exclusively on emerging caddis pupae with a characteristically curved abdomen - the result was the Klinkhamer, with its bent body hanging below the surface and a highly visible parachute wing above it. It's regarded today as one of the most effective emerger designs ever created. This version adds a bright hi-vis post for easier tracking in difficult light.

The Klinkhamer is fished dead-drift, imitating insects at the moment of emergence, with the abdomen still hanging in the surface film - ideal for trout and grayling on rivers with a caddis or mayfly hatch, especially in broken water where the post's visibility pays off.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
