Description

The Hendrickson Light is a classic American Catskill dry fly that imitates the mayfly Ephemerella subvaria. It was tied in 1916 by Roy Steenrod of Liberty, New York, on the Beaverkill River, after he caught one of the naturals during a heavy hatch and matched it at the vise. Two years later he named the pattern after his fishing friend Albert E. Hendrickson - today anglers simply call the whole mayfly species "Hendrickson".

Classically, the Hendrickson Light is fished dry and dead-drift during the Hendrickson hatch from late April through mid-May - ideal for freestone stretches and pool-riffle water where trout key in on the rising mayflies.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
