Crazy Ant

The Crazy Ant is a bold, deliberately exaggerated ant imitation - the name is used in fly tying for various highly visible ant patterns with rubber legs or synthetic antennae (Ken Walrath's "Crazy Ant" is one well-known example); which exact dressing this particular fly follows is not documented.

Despite the eye-catching looks, the underlying silhouette stays an ant, so it works like other ant patterns especially when fish key selectively on ants during the summer nuptial flight. Its high visibility also makes it a practical indicator fly for a smaller, less visible nymph in a dropper rig. It is tied barbless.
