Description

The Copper John was developed in 1993 by John Barr of Boulder, Colorado, and reached its final form in 1996 after several revisions. Originally tied with turkey biots for the wing case, the pattern was later refined with Thin Skin material and epoxy resin. This Blue Wine variant follows the classic build in its own coloring.

The slim body of wound wire, combined with a tungsten bead and sometimes extra lead, sinks the Copper John quickly to the bottom - ideal for deep, fast-flowing, or murky water. It's a general imitation of a mayfly's nymphal stage and ranks among the most successful nymph patterns worldwide.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
