Cinnamon Sedge

The Cinnamon Sedge is a classic English pattern imitating the grannom hatch (also known as the "Mother's Day Caddis") - one of the year's first big caddisfly hatches, named for the cinnamon-brown coloring of the natural insect (Limnephilus lunatus). No single inventor can be traced anymore, but the fly has been a reliable classic on the chalk streams of southern England for generations.

The Cinnamon Sedge is classically fished dead-drift in the evening during the grannom or a general caddis hatch, when trout key in specifically on the flies skittering across the surface.
