Cahill Light

The Light Cahill is a classic American Catskill dry fly, ranking alongside the Adams as one of the style's best-known patterns. As the story goes, it traces back to railroad worker and fly fisherman Daniel Cahill from the Catskills, said to have tied it in the 1880s - though there's no watertight historical confirmation of that attribution. The fly was later picked up and spread further by, among others, Theodore Gordon.

The Light Cahill imitates pale mayflies such as the Pale Morning Dun or Pale Evening Dun and is classically fished dead-drift during light evening hatches - a reliable all-rounder for calmer river and stream stretches.
