Description

The Shipman's Buzzer was developed in the late 1970s by British angler Dave Shipman for stillwater trout fishing at Rutland Water. It imitates a hatching midge pupa (buzzer/chironomid) hanging flush in the surface film - the characteristic white Antron "breathers" at the head and tail represent the shuck of the emerging pupa. This black version follows the classic tying.

On stillwater, the Black Shipman's is typically fished static or with minimal movement just under the surface, often combined with other buzzer patterns on the leader. Sitting flush in the film, it's a reliable choice for wary trout and grayling on calm water during a midge hatch.

Fair Trade, Full Circle

Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
