Bead Head Brassie

The Brassie is credited to Gene Lynch of Colorado Springs, who developed it in the 1960s on the South Platte River - some sources also name his fishing friends Ken Chandler and Tug Davenport as co-creators. Originally tied with a copper-wire body and a head of shrink-wrap tubing, the tubing was later mostly replaced with peacock herl.

The wire-wound body imitates the segmented body of larvae and caddisflies, is easy to tie, and sinks fast. Tied barbless, it's a great, versatile all-round nymph for trout and grayling.
