Ausable Wulff
LFT-T136.16Description
The Ausable Wulff was developed in 1964 by Adirondack fly tyer Fran Betters, who adapted Lee Wulff's original Wulff flies for the tannic, tumbling waters of the Ausable River in New York State. Betters ran the Adirondack Sports Shop in Wilmington for 47 years, right on the West Branch of the Ausable, and counted the Ausable Wulff among his best-known patterns alongside his Haystack - Field & Stream ranked it among the top ten trout flies of all time.
With its dense deer-hair wing and strong hackling, the Ausable Wulff imitates a range of mayfly species depending on size and rides reliably even in fast, broken current. It's fished dead-drift and is a proven all-rounder for trout and grayling on mountain rivers.
Fair Trade, Full Circle
Your flies are tied fairly, with the best materials, on a barbless hook. "Fliegenfischen mit Herz" is building a base for women in Nairobi. The women there own and run the tying workshop themselves, giving them economic independence, pride in their craft, and joy in their customers. Let's work together toward a more balanced world.
